MP3 Downloads of the Week: Nothington

Wednesday August 2, 2006

With a gritty sound that combines rockabilly with a touch of blues and a hint of country twang, San Francisco's Nothington are the newest addition to the roster at BYO records.

Founded by Jay Northington and Gabe Lindeman after the breakup of Tsunami Bomb, Nothington is a true exercise in DIY punk rock. With their own money, Jay and Gabe recorded a handful of songs for what was intended to be a self-released EP, and posted them on Myspace. They got so much attention that they ended up recruiting guitarist Chris Matulich (Enemy You) and bass player Mike Hicks (Time Spent Driving) and signed with BYO.

The band is currently in the studio, recording their debut full-length album ALL IN, which will hit the streets in early 2007. Fortunately, you don't have to wait that long to get a taste of this great home-cooked punk rock.

Download these MP3s from Nothington:

  2. The Last Time (MP3)
  3. The Bottom Line (MP3)
