MP3 Artist Of The Week - If You Like hellogoodbye... check out Atom and His Package

Thursday August 31, 2006

The latest from hellogoodbye, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, is getting a ton of attention right now, both on this site and throughout the media. If their synthesized power punk is a sound you're into, there is another band (or more accurately, a guy) you might want to know about.

Atom and His Package is Adam Goren and his synthesizer (affectionatley known as "the Package"), and the result is like a sillier version of hellogoodbye. I personally prefer it, because the synthesized sound is so clean, and his goofy lyrics match up so well.

Sadly, Atom and His Package are no more. After a having a baby Goren as well as being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Goren called it quits in 2003. His last album, Hair: Debatable, includes a bonus DVD of Atom and His Package's final show.

Check out these songs by the Atom and His Package:

  1. Possession (Not The One By Danzig) (MP3)
  2. I'm Downright Amazed At What I Can Destroy With Just A Hammer (MP3)
  3. (Lord, It's Hard To Be Happy When You're Not) Using The Metric System (MP3)

What do you think of this week's MP3s? Let us hear about it!

Or do you want to suggest a favorite band for MP3 of the week? Send me an email! I'd love to hear your ideas.

Love it! Wait till I set it as my phone’s ringing tone. My friends are going to be so jealous about it. They are quite a catch, aren’t they?
