Thunderlip - The Prophecy

Monday September 10, 2007

Thunderlip is a band that shares much more with Valient Thorr than their locale – they share a sound.

It’s a sound that’s equal parts Skynard and Stooges, and it’s seriously making me wonder if the second appearance of this Southern garage punk sound signals the beginning of a scene. It wouldn’t bother me if it were; I’m a big fan of both bands’ approaches toward rock.

Perhaps Valient Himself is an even more charismatic preacher than already thought, and is beginning to generate Earthly disciples, ready to continue his message on Earth should he ever return to Venus.

Or perhaps both bands simply know what rocks.

Check out the full review of Thunderlip’s The Prophecy and decide for yourself – is North Carolina the site for a new sound, a new musical movement and even possibly a whole new way of thinking?
