On March 10, Boston’s working class punk band Street Dogs will be releasing a new single, available exclusively on iTunes. The band will be donating 100% of the single, called “War After the War,” to Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit organization that assists servicemen and women who have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries.
In addition to this donation, Street Dogs have added a new section entitled "Veteran's Aid" to their Web site (located here), a resource guide which provides links to organizations that help veterans transition back into society with mental health services, housing, financial aid and more.
The band is familiar with the issues veterans face. Frontman Mike Mike McColgan, former lead singer of The Dropkick Murphys, was a soldier in the first Gulf war before becoming a founding member of the Murphys in 1996.
Street Dogs are also getting ready to set out on their first annual Crooked, Drunken Sons Tour. As a part of the band’s charitable actions, fans attending these shows are being asked to bring non-perishable canned food items with them to the band's merch table, which will be distributed to local food banks.
