What does anarchy smell like? According the newest fragrance from Etat Libre D'Orange, it "opens with lemon, grey pepper and ambrette notes, then the heart has black plum, aldehydes and heliotrope, drying down to patchouli, orcanox and leather at the base."
That's the description Perfume Shrine is using to describe the scent of their newest concoction, a Sex Pistols perfume (link), the latest fragrance that appears to be a combined effort between the perfumerie and the same Pistols swindle marketing machine that brought you commercials for Mountain Dew and butter.
In the past, we've even seen Sex Pistols cashmere sweaters, but I think this time... this time is really over the top with the merchandising (until the next way they figure out how to go over the top with merchandising).
The scent is promising to be "the scent of anarchy and rebellion worn to bring out your inner punk," but the description above doesn't seem that rebellious. I'll buy the leather part, but I would think there'd be more sweat, beer, BO and smoke.
Regardless, I'll bet it smells pretty rotten. Or at least a little vicious.
It's out in September, and will make a wonderful gift for your mother. Who wears combat boots.
