While the 2013 Vans Warped Tour will be wending its way around North America this summer, bringing joy wherever it does, it won't be the punkest thing in the works, at least not in Detroit.
This summer's punkest event will be coming courtesy of, surprisingly, Metallica.
On June 8-9, Metallica will be bringing the Orion Fest to Belle Isle in Detroit, and alond with co-headliners Metallica and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be a host of great punk acts, including Rise Against, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello and representation from a pair of Detroit's finest, the Dirtbombs and DEATH.
In addition will be a group called FLAG. Composed of Black Flag alumni Keith Morris, Dez Cadena and Bill Stevenson, along with The Descendents' Stephen Egerton, the band will be playing Black Flag tunes.
They're actually the second Black Flag unit on the road right now, with another outfit billed as Black Flag composed of Greg Ginn, Ron Reyes and Gregory Moore doing their own dates elsewhere.
Orion tickets go on sale March 1, starting at the unholy price of $150, with VIP tickets available for $750. Ticket information is available here.
