It was a fast run across the parking lot of Comerica Park after the Street Dogs to catch the set from the Bouncing Souls, but the sweat was worth it, as the Souls provided what would be the best set of the day. For 19 years now, the Bouncing Souls have continued to evolve their sound, and never losing their edge or getting boring. This year's set included great songs like "Hopeless Romantic," "Sing Along Forever," and "Lean on Sheena." "Ole" was conspicuously absent, but they more than made up for it with two surprises: an acoustic version of the Misfits' "Hybrid Moments" (which much of the crowd was too young to know), and when Tom Gabel of Against Me! joined them on stage for "True Belivers." Truly, the Souls proved that the old school still triumphs.
