She's raunchy. She's irreverent. She's Peaches.

Equal parts Joan Jett and Prince, hip hop and punk rock, Peaches has made a career out of albums that relied heavily on songs about sex with thumping bass beats and solid guitar riffs. Her latest album, Impeach My Bush, is more of everything Peaches is known for, and it's made to be played loud with the bass booming.

Peaches Gets Political?

The opening track, "F**k or Kill" is pure Peaches, with an added bonus - it's political. The first lines are typical for her in presentation, but atypical in message. As she screams "I'd rather f**k who I want than kill who I am told to", on the song that quickly breaks down into her chant of "Impeach Bush", it's apparent that this is a new side of Peaches we're not used to hearing.

In a perfect world, years from now Peaches will be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and George W. Bush will be best-known for being the president who got her to do a political song.

Peaches Gets Punk

Aside from her brief foray into political music, the rest of the album is filled with posturing, explicit references and double entendres; it's not an album for the faint of heart, and it's not one for the kids either.

Peaches is always at her best when she's slapping a crunchy guitar riff on top of her drum beats, and this album has that in spades. Comparisons between Peaches and Joan Jett are impossible to avoid, so when Jett duets with her on the heavy-hitting "Boys Wanna Be Her", it's like hearing the master performing with her apprentice. Peaches also brings the rock out on the punked out tunes "You Love It" and "Do Ya", and the Ramones-flavored "Give'er".

She closes the album with "Stick It To The Pimp", a backlash against hip hop chauvinism. What I find most refreshing about Peaches' take on it is that she doesn't preach; she simply pushes it right back at the boys and beats them at their own game. It's a raunchy version of feminism, and Peaches makes it work.

Impeach My Bush is typical for Peaches, but it's as good as anything Peaches has ever done. Filled with dirty raps and punk guitars, it's an instant party - just pop it in and turn it up, and hope nobody within listening range is easily offended.
